Aerial Lift Attachment - Aerial lifts might be used to accomplish numerous unique tasks performed in hard to reach aerial spaces. Successful completion of these training courses earns a special certified certificate. Only properly certified individuals who have OSHA operating licenses should run aerial lift trucks. The Occupational Safety & Health Organization has formed rules to uphold safety and prevent injury while using aerial lifts. Common sense rules such as not utilizing this machine to give rides and ensuring all tires on aerial lifts are braced in order to hinder machine tipping are mentioned within the rules.

Unfortunately, statistics show that more than 20 operators die each year while running aerial lift trucks and 8% of those are commercial painters. The majority of these accidents are due to improper tire bracing and the lift falling over; therefore several of these deaths were preventable. Operators should make sure that all wheels are locked and braces as a critical safety precaution to stop the instrument from toppling over.

Marking the neighbouring area with noticeable markers need to be used to protect would-be passers-by so that they do not come near the lift. In addition, markings should be placed at about 10 feet of clearance amid any electric cables and the aerial lift. Lift operators should at all times be well harnessed to the hoist while up in the air.
